50th Anniversary Concert & Fireworks Spectacular

One world-class performance just isn’t enough for a celebration that only comes along every five decades. That’s why Union City’s 50th Anniversary Concert & Fireworks Spectacular will showcase several renowned acts, making this the biggest and best anniversary event of the year.

Ticket Information

$10 Adults
$5 for children under 12

Tickets will be available at the gate. The ticket office opens at 3:30 on event day, and will close at 8:00 PM.

TIP: Advance ticket holders and those who have picked up tickets at will-call may enter from Gate C on Alvarado-Niles Rd. and avoid the crowd at the entrance near the ticket office.

The ticket office is located at the James Logan High School Pavilion on H St., will be open from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM.

Safety Rules: No outside food or beverages are allowed, and no alcohol or smoking are permitted on school property. Bags and backpacks are subject to search.

Entertainment includes:


    • PAPA DOO RUN RUN – California’s legendary beach party band Papa Doo Run Runwill headline the evening’s entertainment, featuring high-energy, highly interactive music that gets entire audiences on their feet, singing at the top of their lungs. With two gold records and a Grammy nomination, Papa Doo Run Run draws thousands of spectators wherever they perform.
    • QUEST CREW – A special appearance by MTV’s “America’s Quest CrewBest Dance Crew” Season 3 winners will electrify audiences of all ages. Quest Crew’s members have been featured on “So You Think You Can Dance,” “American Idol,” music videos, stage shows, movies, and television. This award-winning hip-hop dance team draws huge crowds, so advance tickets are recommended
    •  BOYZ NITE OUT – BNO will have audience members “Shout” Boyz Nite Outalong with the Beatles, relax “Under the Boardwalk,” and groove to their version of the Blues Brothers. The only thing more fun than this beatbox/a capella group’s upbeat music is its astounding talent for mimicking drums, guitars and horns using only their voices. Boyz Nite Out has worked with artists such as Ray Charles, ELO, Jay Leno, Kool & the Gang and Michael MacDonald.
    • Fireworks – Ending the concert with a bang, the unforgettable evening will conclude with a pyrotechnic extravaganza to rival your fondest fireworks memories, produced by the firm that provides programming at venues such as Disneyland, baseball stadiums and the Olympic Games.
 

Never before has this much talent been assembled in Union City. It is sure to make the last major event of the city’s Golden Anniversary one that will be remembered for the next 50 years.

The entertainment begins at 5:45 p.m. with the captivating music of Sage. Fresh from recording its first album in Hawaii, Sage draws from jazz, reggae, hip hop, rhythm and blues, all blended together with strong Island roots. The lineup also includes Union City Teen Idols Priya Vijaykumar and Jazleen Serrano, as well as popular local singer Jumoke Hill.

Union City Mayor Mark Green is scheduled to speak, along with former Councilmember Delaine Eastin, who went on to represent the district in the California Assembly and to serve as State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Other surprises throughout the evening will provide historical perspective and community inspiration.
